“From Shore to Store” is a women-led initiative that combines nature-based entrepreneurship with marine conservation in coastal Tanzania. Implemented by Women in Nature Tanzania (WiN-TZ), the project supports women and youth in seaweed farming not only as a source of sustainable income but also as a tool for ecosystem restoration.

By training participants in seaweed cultivation, harvesting, value addition, and eco-enterprise development, the project empowers coastal communities to turn marine resources into viable businesses while protecting the marine environment. Seaweed farming contributes to climate resilience by improving water quality, sequestering carbon, and enhancing biodiversity, making it a nature-positive economic activity. Participants are also engaged in awareness-raising and advocacy for ocean health, linking conservation and livelihood.

The project promotes gender equity, environmental stewardship, and economic empowerment, enabling women to become leaders in both sustainable business and coastal conservation.
